Monday brought news of the retirements of two stars of 2014 who haven’t recaptured their old sparkle this year — Bayern, the reigning Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) winner, and Take Charge Brandi, last year’s champion two-year-old filly.

The parallel between the two extends to their new home. Both are bound for Hill ‘n’ Dale Farms near Lexington, Kentucky. While Bayern will commence his stud career there, Take Charge Brandi may be offered as a broodmare prospect at the upcoming Keeneland November Sale.
