The History of the Jaipur Invitational Stakes

The Jaipur Invitational Stakes is a Grade I Thoroughbred race run every summer at Belmont Park. The race is named for Champion three-year-old colt Jaipur, well known for his victory at the 1962 Travers Stakes, where he defeated Ridan by a fraction of a nose while setting a then-track record time. As part of the Breeder's Cup "Win and You're In" Challenge Series, granting the winner an automatic bid into the Breeder's Cup Turf Sprint.
