Breeders' Cup Big Bet Battle Royale - The Haskell

The much anticipated return of American Pharoah happens this Sunday in the $1,750,000 Haskell Invitational (G1) at Monmouth Park in Oceanport, New Jersey.

American Pharoah is the overwhelming ML favorite at 1-5 in his first race since becoming the first Triple Crown champion in 27 years.

Needless to say, this will not be the most formidable field that American Pharoah has competed against. Headlining the rest of the field are Kentucky Derby runner Upstart (6-1) and Grade 1 winner Competitive Edge (8-1).

Trainer Bob Baffert has won the Haskell a record seven times, including four of the last five, and he is confident that his horse is still improving. "I feel confident that he's going to run a big race," he said, "And that's all — as a trainer — we can do is just have them ready and whatever happen, happens."
