Gran Premio Internacional Carlos Pellegrini Race History
The Gran Premio Internacional Carlos Pellegrini is an International Thoroughbred horse race run each year at the Hipódromo de San Isidro in San Isidro, Argentina. Named in honor of Carlos Pellegrini, the 11th President of Argentina, the race is the oldest and most prestigious horse race in the country. Jockey Irineo Leguisamo, considered South America's greatest jockey ever, has won the race a record 10 times. The record has stood unmatched since his final win in 1962.
As part of the Breeder's Cup Challenge Series, winner's gain an automatic berth into the Breeder's Cup Turf.
