Prix Marcel Boussac Race History
The Prix Marcel Boussac is Group I flat thoroughbred horse race run each year at the Longchamp Racecourse in Paris, France. Inaugurated in 1969 as the Critérium des Pouliches, the race was given its current title in 1980 to honor Marcel Boussac. Aside from a highly successful career as an owner/breeder, Boussac served as the chairman of the Société d'Encouragement (the former governing body for horse racing in France).
No horse has ever won the race more than once, but currently there are five jockeys tied for most wins with three each: Lester Piggott, Yves Saint-Martin, Alain Lequeux, Willie Carson, and Olivier Peslier.
As part of the Breeders' Cup "Win and You're In" Challenge Series, the winner automatically qualifies for the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf.
