HIRSCH HEADLINES DEL MAR WEEKEND
The $300,000 Clement L. Hirsch S. (G1) is the top draw at Del Mar this weekend. This Saturday feature will be led by multiple Grade 1 winner Switch for trainer John Sadler. The four-year-old daughter of Quiet American has been second in three straight, which followed two straight Grade 1 tallies, and is a stakes winner on this oval. Joel Rosario stays in the irons.
Grade 2 heroine St. Trinians was a subpar fourth in the Vanity H. (G1) last time but could easily rebound in this one for Sadler. Bayakoa H. (G2) victress Washington Bridge comes back off of two sprint tries and looms a threat here for Jerry Hollendorfer. Grade 3 winner Freedom Star and the ultra-consistent Ultra Blend also deserve mention here.
The $150,000 Best Pal S. (G2) on Sunday, and Friday’s $150,000 Sorrento S. (G3), will also take place this weekend.
