A compact but competitive field of eight, including Santa Anita Handicap winner Melatonin, will dispute the $500,000 Gold Cup (G1) at Santa Anita this Saturday. Second Summer, recent winner of the Grade II, Californian stakes, seeks his fourth consecutive victory in the 10 furlong handicap, in which no horse will have worse than a four pound disadvantage.
The Bob Baffert trained Hoppertunity returns after a third place finish to California Chrome in the Dubai World Cup, while defending champ, Hard Aces, seeks to defend his Gold Cup title with his patented one-run closing style. The Gold Cup is an official Breeders’ Cup “Win and You’re In” race, with the winner earning an automatic entry to the Breeders’ Cup Classic, which will be held over this same track and distance on Nov. 5.
The undercard features the Grade I, $300,000 Triple Bend Stakes at six furlongs and a $500,000 Guaranteed Late Pick 4 pool over races 6-9. Players who hit the Late Pick 4 on TwinSpires will win or split a 1 Million Points Prize.
Results Announced: 954 players hit the Late Pick 4 on Gold Cup day at Santa Anita. Each winner earned 1,049 TSC Elite Points.

- Cash a winning ticket in the Late Pick 4 (races 6-9) at Santa Anita on Saturday, June 25.
- All players who cash a winning ticket in the Late Pick 4 will win or split 1 Million TSC Elite Points with all other winners.
- Players may earn only one (1) share of the 1 Million Points prize, regardless of the number of winning tickets cashed.
Winners will be announced on or before Monday, June 27. Points prizes will be credited on or before Wednesday, June 29.
