4   Evan's Calling 9/2   Has visited the winner's circle in three of his last four starts and exits a nice effort last out while facing allowance competition in which he stalked the pace early and finished well late to claim the victory by 1 3/4 lengths. A repeat of that effort will make him a threat in this spot and he posted an even better BRIS Speed rating in the start prior while defeating a field of starter allowance runners here. Trainer Brad Cox wins with 28% of his runners next out after winning their start prior and 27% of the route races.
5   Flattermejim 6/1   Has hit the board in seven of eight starts here overall which includes six trips to the winner's circle. The gelding exits a nice effort last out while facing starter allowance competition in which he rallied from 4 1/2 lengths off the pace and finished well late to claim the victory by 2 1/4 lengths. The BRIS Speed rating he posted in that effort will make him a threat in this spot and trainer David Vance wins with 21% of his runners next out after winning their start prior. In addition, he wins 15% of the allowance races he has a runner in. Terry Thompson gets the call and he has combined with the conditioner for a 24% win rate over the last 60 days.
1   Pioneering Native 3/1   Added the blinkers last out while facing state-bred stakes competition at Delta Downs and put in a very nice effort in which he was in contention throughout before digging in determinedly late to cross the wire a nose in front. A repeat of that effort will make him a contender in this spot and trainer Tom Amoss wins with 31% of his runners next out after winning their start prior. In addition, he wins 28% of the allowance races he has a runner in. The dark bay tops the field in BRIS Prime Power and he will have David Mello in the irons who wins 15% of the route races he has a mount in.

10   Hot Zapper 10/1   Improving chestnut by Ghostzapper is out of a stakes winning mare who earned $387K and was last seen when running from off the pace to break his maiden drawing off to win by nearly six lengths over a mile here in mid-January. Three-year-old posted a four furlong work in 48 2/5 here three days ago for trainer Andrew Leggio who wins with 15% of his runners that have not raced for 46-90 days and who has won with 20% of his starters at this meet. Gelding drew a wide post but is one of few in here that can be running late while suited by a fast early pace and Rosie Napravnik in the saddle is a plus.
8   Yankee Gambler 8/1   Chestnut has a record of 3-1-1-0 at Fair Grounds and comes off a win over six furlongs on a sloppy track here early this month when rallying from off the pace while earning top ranking on BRIS Speed Last Race. Son of Yankee Gentleman is trained by Bret Calhoun who wins with 23% of his runners in non-graded stakes and with 25% of his starters that won their last outing. Gelding can be close to what should be a fast early pace with Miguel Mena remaining aboard.
2   Dixie Beat 10/1   Gelding has not been seen since earning top ranking on BRIS Early Pace Last Race when fifth in a stakes at Delta Downs in early February after being involved early and will make his first start at a route distance. Son of Minister Eric has been working well for trainer Bret Calhoun who wins with 21% of his runners that have not raced for 46-90 days and with 16% first time at a route. Three-year-old an be in the early mix here breaking from near the inside under Robby Albarado who won with two of his last seven rides for the barn.
4   Montbrooks Miracle 9/2   Three-year-old comes off a gate-to-wire win here over a mile three weeks ago when making his second start after a short break and is first on BRIS Current and Average Class Last 3. Son of Montbrook is trained by Ray Sibille who wins with 13% of his runners third time off a layoff and gelding, who won a stakes at Evangeline Downs last year on the front end, can be part of a fast early pace with Kerwin Clark retaining the mount.

5   Normandy Invasion 7/2   Four-year-old looked like the winner of last year's Kentucky Derby turning for home before flattening out and was not seen again until making an impressive winning return over a mile at Gulfstream last month. Son of Tapit, who finished a troubled fifth in the Risen Start Stakes as the favorite in his one previous start on this track, has been working well since his latest for trainer Chad Brown who wins with 29% of his runners second time off a layoff. Bay may have improved since last year and should find a decent early pace to stalk here with Rosie Napravnik aboard.
8   Palace Malice 8/5   Last year's Belmont Stakes winner made his first start since an unplaced effort in the Breeders' Cup Classic a winning one when narrowly winning the Gulfstream Park Handicap over a mile three weeks ago. Son of Curlin finished a close third in the Risen Star Stakes in one of his two previous starts at Fair Grounds for trainer Todd Pletcher who wins with 27% of his runners second time off a layoff and who won with one of his four starters at this meet. Four-year-old has tactical speed and can be near the front early under Mike Smith but has to be asked if his hard fought last effort after a four month break took something out of hi.
1   Bradester 5/1   Colt comes off a nice win in the Grade Three Mineshaft Handicap here last month when getting a good trip running from just off the pace in his second start of the year. Trainer Eddie Kenneally wins with 18% of his runners that won their last start and has won with 18% of his starters since the beginning of 2013 and son of Lion Heart may be the one to catch here breaking from the rail under James Graham but previous rider Napravnik goes with the top selection.
6   Sunbean 10/1   Louisiana-bred son of Brahms owns an impressive record of 7-5-1-0 on this track and comes off a win over a mile and a sixteenth in the Star Guitar Stakes in early March. Four-year-old is from the barn of Ron Faucheux who has won with 22% of his runners at this meet and gelding has tactical speed and can be a contender for a small share under Richard Eramia who won with 23% of his mounts for the barn in the last two months.

2   Dance With Monarch 9/5   Has been claimed out of each of his last two starts and exits a nice effort last out while facing $7,500 competition in which he rallied from 7 3/4 lengths off the pace and finished well late to claim the victory by 6 3/4 lengths. The gray has hit the board in four of five starts here overall which includes a couple of trips to the winner's circle. Trainer Chris Richard wins 32% of the time first off the claim and with 27% of his runners next out after winning their start prior. David Mello gets the call and he has combined with the conditioner for a 30% win rate over the last 60 days. This one is near the top of the field in BRIS Prime Power.
3   Crooked as Can Be 9/2   Exits a very nice effort at this level last out in his first start since being claimed and moved into the barn of trainer Brad Cox in which he stalked the pace early and finished well late to claim the victory by 2 1/4 lengths. A repeat of the BRIS Speed rating he posted in that effort would make him a threat in this spot and Cox wins with 28% of his runners next out after winning their start prior. In addition, he wins 27% of the route races. Jesus Castanon gets the call and he has combined with the conditioner for a 38% win rate over the last 60 days.
4   Senator Dave 7/2   Tries to make amends for failing as the favorite here last out in his first start since being claimed and moved into the barn of trainer David Vance in an effort where he stalked the pace early but was no match for Crooked As Can Be late and crossed the wire in second, beaten by 2 1/4 lengths. Vance wins with 24% of his runners next out after being beaten as the favorite and with 20% of his runners making their second start out of his barn. Terry Thompson gets the call and he has combined with the conditioner for a 24% win rate over the last 60 days.
1   Full Dancer 6/1   Jumps up to face starter allowance competition in his second start back from the layoff and first since being claimed and moved into the barn of trainer Charles Kardousch after putting in a nice effort last out while facing $5,000 claimers in which he stalked the pace early and finished well late to claim the victory by 3 1/2 lengths. This one has hit the board in six of his last seven starts which includes five trips to the winner's circle. Jon Court gets the call.

6   Vicar's in Trouble 4/1   Son of promising young sire had little shot in the Risen Star Stakes in his latest after drawing the wide thirteen post but still managed to make what looked like a winning move in the stretch after being four wide throughout before flattening out to finish third behind today's rivals Intense Holiday and Albano. Colt was very impressive in his two previous starts on this track especially when defeating Albano by nearly seven lengths in the LeComte Stakes over mile here in January despite showing greenness in the stretch. Three-year-old, who has been training well at Gulfstream for trainer Mike Maker, has tactical speed and can be in good position early stalking the leaders from a better post with Rosie Napravnik remaining aboard.
1   Intense Holiday 2/1   Son of Harlan's Holiday got up in the last stride to defeat a bulky field in the Risen Star Stakes over a mile and a sixteenth here in his latest while earning top ranking on BRIS Speed Last Race. Three-year-old's works since his last include a four furlong move in 48 seconds at Palm Meadows this month for trainer Todd Pletcher who wins with 22% of his runners in graded stakes. Dark bay should get another fast pace here to close into and can be a factor at the finish but returning rider Mike Smith will have to work out a trip breaking from the inside post.
8   Rise Up 10/1   Blinkers are added to son of Rockport Harbor who was expected to set the pace in the Risen Star Stakes but who was rank when not making the early lead and subsequently faded quickly to finish unplaced. Gate-to-wire winner of last year's Delta Jackpot has posted several good works since his last effort for trainer Tom Amoss who wins with 25% of his runners with blinkers added for the first time. Bay finds other front running types in here but may go a way in front if able to find the lead early under Gerald Melancon who won with 45% of his rides for the barn in the last two months.
7   Commanding Curve 20/1   Like the top selection, son of Master Command lost much of his chance in the Risen Star Stakes when drawing an outside post but did make some progress to finish sixth there in his first start since breaking his maiden at Churchill in November. Trainer Dallas Stewart has won with 14% of his runners at this meet and three-year-old will find a decent early pace to suit his closing style and can be a contender for a small share with Robby Albarado retaining the mount.
