Owen Rico | 9/2 | Drops in for a tag in his first start back from the layoff and second since being claimed and moved into the barn of trainer Joseph Orseno after having not started since back in May when he put in a disappointing effort while facing New York-bred allowance competition at Belmont in which he finished fifth, beaten by 3 1/4 lengths. The chestnut tops the field in BRIS Prime Power by three points and also possesses the best BRIS Class rating. Orseno wins with 15% of his runners second off the claim. |
9 | |
Ballymurphy | 5/1 | Drops in class today after putting in a so-so effort last out while facing $30,000 competition on the main track in which he finished fourth, beaten by 9 1/2 lengths. His best effort will make him a player in this spot and trainer Kelly Breen wins with 19% of his runners dropping a class level. Paco Lopez gets the call and he wins 17% of the turf races he has a mount in. |
5 | |
Oklahoma Den | 5/1 | Came to life in a big way here last out while facing $20,000 maiden competition as he rallied from 7 1/2 lengths off the pace and finished well late to claim the victory by four lengths. Trainer Charles Simon wins with 16% of his runners next out after breaking their maiden in the start prior and 13% of the claiming races he has a runner in. |

Boji Moon | 3/1 | Gelding comes off an impressive win in a stakes at Kentucky Downs when remaining undefeated in three starts in his turf debut over seven furlongs last month while earning top ranking on BRIS Speed Last Race and Early Pace Last Race. Son of 15% grass sire Cactus Ridge posted a four furlong work in 48 seconds flat at Churchill eight days ago for trainer Chris Richard who has won with 29% of his runners since the beginning of the year. Two-year-old is also first on Prime Power and Current Class and can be near the front from the start with Brian Hernandez retaining the mount. |
5 | |
Bashart | 5/2 | Son of exceptional turf sire War Front is first on BRIS Back Speed and was last seen when leading all the way to win the Grade Two With Anticipation Stakes at Saratoga at this distance in late August in his third career start. Trainer Todd Pletcher wins with 23% of his runners in graded stakes and with 30% that won their last start and half brother to two other winners on grass can be near the front from the start under John Velazquez. |
2 | |
Tiger Bourbon | 10/1 | Chestnut finished fourth behind Bashart in the With Anticipation two back and was last seen when second in the five and a half Laurel Futurity after showing tactical speed in late September. Son of promising young turf sire Big Brown is trained by Eddie Kenneally who has won with 16% of his runners since the start of the year and colt can get a good trip stalking what promises to be a decent early pace with Rosie Napravik in the saddle. |
11 | |
Whyruawesome | 12/1 | Chestnut comes off a good second place finish behind the promising Solitary Ranger in the Arlington Washington Futurity in early September in his second career outing and will make his turf debut. Son of 12% grass sire Whywhywhy worked four furlongs in 46 seconds a week ago for trainer Anne Smith who has won with 11% of her runners this year and gelding can be running from off the pace with E T Baird up. |

Emollient | 7/2 | Daughter of excellent synthetic surface ran off to win the Grade One Ashland Stakes here in the spring by nine lengths in her one previous try on an all-weather surface and is first on BRIS Back Speed. Three-year-old comes off an unplaced effort on turf at Belmont in mid-September when making her first start after a short break and is trained by Bill Mott who wins with 21% of his runners in graded stakes and who has won with 20% of his starters this year. Filly speed but has shown she can run from just off the pace and can be in good position from the start under Mike Smith who was aboard for bay's previous runaway win here. |
6 | |
Byrama | 4/1 | BRIS Prime Power selection won a Grade One earlier this year on the synthetic surface at this distance at Hollywood Park and comes off a well beaten effort when ambitiously placed against males in the Pacific Classic at Del Mar in August. Trainer Simon Callaghan wins with 13% of his runners in graded stakes and has won with 15% of his starters this year and filly can be stalking the early leaders with Rosie Napravnik in the saddle. |
7 | |
Wine Princess | 12/1 | Daughter of good synthetic surface sire Ghostzapper is out of Horse of the Year Azeri and comes off a second place finish at Churchill in early September. Four-year-old will make her first start on an all-weather track but posted a five furlong work in 58 2/5 on this track eight days ago for trainer Steve Margolis who has won with 19% of his starters since the beginning of the year. Chestnut has tactical speed and can be forwardly placed from the start under Shaun Bridgmohan. |
8 | |
Sisterhood | 12/1 | Improving daughter of Kitten's Joy faltered in her latest on grass at Kentucky Downs but finished a creditable fifth in a Grade One at Del Mar two back after a rough trip when making her first start after a short break. Four-year-old has a record of 3-1-2-0 on the Keeneland Polytrack for trainer Wesley Ward who wins with 18% of his runners third time off a layoff and filly can be a contender for minor honors with Julio Garcia riding. |

Silent Treat | 3/1 | Prime Power 2nd from the barn of Scott Fairlie has been in very good form with two wins and a second leading up to this and has never been out of the exacta from five starts on this main oval. Sophomore filly by Silent Name proved capable at this trip last time with a wire-to-wire score in stubborn fashion here, but we also like that this filly can win from off the pace some. Barn 22% with a winner last time out; must use. |
9 | |
Its the Rush | 8/1 | Sneaky contender from the solid barn of Ralph Biamonte gets the outer post in here and we think the filly is sitting on a big one this afternoon. Bay daughter of Harlington has good gate speed in a field mostly lacking pace and when she is right, the sophomore can be very good, evidenced by her daylight waltz at this distance a few runs back at the $32,000 level. Prime Power 3rd goes for a barn at 24% off the 46-90 break, and she could be in second pressing the pace to the top of the lane. Lots to like, including the price. |
6 | |
Savvy Hester | 5/2 | Dual stakes placed daughter of Heatseeker has settled for five runner-up finishes compared to just a single victory, but this one is pretty consistent and surely would be of no shock in this field with something like her best. Kentucky-bred dark bay comes off a big late run in a turf dash here last time when second and her lone win came on this Polytrack surface for Ricky Griffith, a 15% synthetic conditioner. Versatile sort has a nice turn of foot and should be looming large in midstretch. Expect Patrick Husbands to have this one a few lengths off the early tempo. |
5 | |
Theogony | 4/1 | Chestnut filly by Curlin was no factor in a recent stakes run but takes the big drop down to a more logical level today and gets a look in here for conditioner Andrew Smith. Three-year-old miss was a fine maiden winner on this surface earlier in the campaign and while she hasn't impressed as of yet with winners from a trio of tries, the Kentucky-bred doesn't land in a super tough field and we expect her to put her best foot forward on this occasion. Gary Boulanger will be in the irons and likely doing his best work from a stalking position early on. |

Keening | 3/1 | Chestnut has not been seen since finishing second at Saratoga in her turf debut in mid-August but posted a four furlong work in 46 3/5 here eight days ago for trainer Charles Lopresti who wins with 19% of his runners that have not raced for 46-90 days. Lopresti has won with 22% of his starters overall this year and wins with 27% on grass and daughter of Curlin is out of a stakes placed mare who has produced one winner so far on turf. Filly has tactical speed and can be near the front from the start under John Velazquez who won with two of his last three rides for the barn. |
11 | |
Kipling's Joy | 12/1 | BRIS Prime Power selection earned top ranking on Early Pace Last Race when unplaced at Kentucky Downs last month after stalking the early pace and has won two of her nine lifetime starts on grass. Trainer Mike Stidham wins with 17% of his runners on turf and has won with 20% of his starters overall this year and daughter of 14% turf sire Kipling can be near the front early under James Graham who won with 25% of his mounts for the barn in the last two months. |
9 | |
Kitten's Queen | 6/1 | Three-year-old was last seen when swinging wide in the stretch before finishing fourth over a mile at Saratoga in late August and has won one of seven tries on turf. Daughter of 16% turf sire Kitten's Joy is trained by Wayne Catalano who wins with 20% of his runners on grass and who has won with 22% of his starters since the beginning of the year and filly can be in mid-pack early with Rosie Napravnik aboard. |
10 | |
Sense to Compete | 7/2 | Filly comes off a second place finish in a stakes at Monmouth in late August when making her second start after a short break and has now hit the board in both of her two tries on grass. Trainer Graham Motion wins with 21% of his runners third time off a layoff and has won with 20% of his starters this year and daughter of Street Sense can be running from off the pace with Mike Smith taking the mount. |
