LECOMTE HEADLINES BIG FAIR GROUNDS SATURDAY
The three-year-olds with hopes of progressing on the Derby Trail will vie this Saturday at the Fair Grounds in the $100,000 Lecomte S. (G3). The first in a three-race series here, the Lecomte often creates some fine sophomores and this year should be no different. Exfactor won the Sugar Bowl S. last time and could be nominated to this spot by trainer Bernie Flint. The talented son of Exchange Rate has really looked the part so far and would be among the top draws in here.
Unbeaten allowance winner Capetown Devil took an allowance race on this oval on the final day of 2011 and must be given respect for trainer David Carroll. Remsen S. (G2) third El Padrino, sharp maiden winner Radiant Talent, the Tom Amoss-trained Shared Property, Delta Jackpot S. (G3) fourth Seven Lively Sins and Sugar Bowl S. runner-up Laurie's Rocket, add to the depth of the list of probables.
Five other stakes will take place on Saturday, with the other graded one coming in the $100,000 Colonel E. R. Bradley H. (G3). Among the top draws include Woodchopper S. romper Suntracer, Mr. Vegas, a two-time winner on this lawn most recently, Fayette S. (G2) runner-up Ioya Bigtime, Al Stall's Glenwood Canyon, Grade 3 hero Gleam of Hope and the multiple Grade 2-placed Baryshnikov from the Mike Maker barn.
The supporting stakes on the way include the $125,000 Silverbulletday S. for three-year-old fillies, $100,000 Louisiana H., $75,000 Pan Zareta S. and the $75,000 Gaudin Memorial S.
