MARATHONERS TO VIE IN UNITED NATIONS HANDICAP

A superb field of turf marathoners will travel 1 3/8 miles on the Monmouth Park turf oval on Saturday to take part in the $500,000 United Nations H. (G1). A star-studded field is signed on, including 2013 Man o’War S. (G1) winner Boisterous, Gulfstream Park Turf H. (G1) victor Lochte, Grade 1 winner Charming Kitten, Euro import Ghurair, a fine allowance winner at Belmont for Chad Brown most recently, the multiple graded stakes placed Irish Mission, Kaigun, second in the Manhattan (G1) and Maker’s 46 Mile (G1) this season, two-time Grade 1 hero Real Solution, who dominated the Manhattan (G1) last time out for Brown, and Andrew Balding’s Group 1 winner Side Glance, unplaced in the deep Queen Anne S. (G1) last time
The $150,000 Salvator Mile (G3) will also be contested on Saturday and the top draw is surely 2013 Preakness S. (G1) runner-up It’smyluckyday, who has come back with a pair of fine stakes scores leading up to this one for trainer Eddie Plesa.
The $100,000 Long Branch S. will top the Sunday racing at Monmouth Park.
