Royal Delta Returns to Delaware

Dual champion Royal Delta seems all set to give it a go once again at Delaware Park this Saturday, in the $750,000 Delaware H. (G1). Trained by Bill Mott, the exquisite daughter of Empire Maker was upset last time in the Fluer de Lis (G2) at Churchill Downs, but the mare might have needed the race some and we expect a different animal this afternoon. Expect the five-year-old to redeem herself and win this race for the second straight year.

A fine and potentially compact field awaits the favorite, including champion My Miss Aurelia, who was second to the aforementioned in the 2012 Breeders’ Cup Ladies Classic (G1). Trained by Steve Asmussen, the daughter of Smart Strike has not been in lifetime form in 2013, but she has too much back class to be ignored in a race of this magnitude. Ogden Phipps H. (G1) starlet Tiz Miz Sue, impressive Gazelle H. (G1) queen Dance Card and local prep winner Bryan’s Jewel, make this race a must watch this weekend.
