SOLID CAST LIKELY FOR RIVER CITY AT CHURCHILL

The $100,000 River City S. (G3) is the top draw at Churchill Downs this Saturday, with a well-matched field likely for this grass test. Grade 2 winner Blues Street had a nice prep when second in an allowance tilt at Keeneland last out, and the seven-year-old will be flying home late in this one. The gelded son of Street Cry hasn’t lost much luster throughout his career and continues to run big despite his age.

Grade 3 victor Tajaawed was an even sixth in the Shadwell Turf Mile (G1) last time, and should appreciate the class relief in here for conditioner Dan Peitz. Group 1 winner Moryba had a recent prep race for this one and could be wheeled right back by conditioner Bill Mott, who is thriving at this meeting right now. Barclay Tagg’s Kindergarden Kid, Gleam of Hope, a Grade 3 winner on this oval and recent stakes victor Cherokee Lord, are also planning on invading this race.
