SOPHOMORES ON THE LAWN LEADS THE WAY AT GULFSTREAM

Three-year-old turf runners take center stage at Gulfstream Park this weekend, with a pair of grass stakes for the sophomores. The $100,000 Kitten's Joy is for the boys on Saturday, and looks to be rounding up a solid field. Coalport was a closing fourth behind a trio of good ones in the Dania Beach S. last time, and hails from one of the hottest conditioners at this meeting, Wayne Catalano. The aptly-sired son of Kitten's Joy was a close second in the Bourbon S. (G2) as a freshman.

Cozetti was unplaced in the CashCall Futurity (G1) most recently and should factor in this one for trainer Dale Romans. Local allowance winner Howe Great, King Cugat S. runner-up Liquidity Trap, recent allowance winner Star Channel and Grade 2 star State of Play, unplaced in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf (G1) last out, should all add to the depth of this well-matched field.

The $100,000 Sweetest Chant S. is the for the ladies on Sunday, and is likely the next stop for the top three in the recent Ginger Brew S.; Frolic's Revenge, Ready Signal and Ann of the Dance. Others pointing for this include fine debut winner Table Three Ten and the top two from the Natalma S. (Can-G2), Northern Passion and Dayatthespa.
