A pair of graded races for sprinters leads the action at Gulfstream Park over the New Year's Weekend. Saturday plays host to the $100,000 Mr. Prospector s. (G3), with a strong field likely. Capt. Candyman Can is a stakes winner on this oval and is proven to be capable of running fresh for trainer Ian Wilkes. The son of Candy Ride was third when last seen in June in the Aristides S. (G3), but has a pair of local wins and has trained well as of late.
Multiple stakes winner Zero Rate Policy comes off a big win on this oval last time and looms large in this endeavor for trainer Terri Pompay. The gelded son of Trippi is back in very good form. Fall Highweight (G3) runner-up Nathan's HQ, Carry Back S. (G2) victor Indiano, multiple stakes winning dasher Immortal Eyes and Grade 1 runner-up Apriority adds depth to this field.
The $100,000 Old Hat S. (G3) for newly turned three-year-old fillies is on Sunday.
