STALLION STAKES LEAD THE WAY AT AQUEDUCT
STALLION STAKES LEAD THE WAY AT AQUEDUCT
A quartet of stakes races solely for horses bred in the Empire State will top the Sunday action at Aqueduct. The juveniles will be on display in the $100,000 Great White Way Division and the two-year-old fillies will line-up in the $100,000 Fifth Avenue Division.
Also on Sunday is the $75,000 Thunder Rumble Division, for sophomores at seven panels, and the filly and mare version of the race, the $75,000 Staten Island Division.
Saturday plays host to the Long Island H. (G3), the final graded turf stakes in New York for 2011. Last year's winner, Mekong Melody, is expected to defend her title in the race as she ships in from Woodbine for trainer Roger Attfield. The talented lass was last seen unplaced in the E. P. Taylor S. (Can-G1), but should appreciate the class relief in this one.
Also probable for the race are Glens Falls (G3) victress Emerald Beech and Grade 2 New York S. (G2) star Giants Play, among others.
