STAY THIRSTY BEGINS DERBY QUEST IN GOTHAM
Grade 1-placed Stay Thirsty is set to begin his sophomore season at Aqueduct on Saturday, in the G3 $250,000 Gotham Stakes. The son of Bernardini is unraced since attempting the run with his sensational stablemate Uncle Mo, but is bred to run long and get better with age, so he makes sense in this one. The Todd Pletcher trainee is to be a force in this division throughout the spring.
Whirlaway Stakes romper Toby’s Corner has done little wrong for Graham Motion and could be a Triple Crown sleeper. The son of Bellamy Road has been working well leading up to this event. Others likely for this race include Crossbow, a smart allowance winner at Gulfstream who scratched out of the G2 Hutcheson in favor of this start, Dawly, a winner of two straight, Jimmy Winfield Stakes winner Fort Hughes, Count Fleet star Monzon, Philly allowance winner Norman Asbjornson, maiden winner Nacho Saint and Whirlaway third Preachintothedevil.
