TALENTED FIELD ALIGNED FOR JEROME
The weekend feature at Aqueduct is Saturday’s $200,000 Jerome S. (G2), an unofficial stop on the Derby Trail for a lot of three-year-old hopefuls. The unbeaten Vyjack looms as an intriguing contender in this one for trainer Rudy Rodriguez. The gelded son of Into Mischief has been very sharp in a pair of dominant wins leading up to this, including a stakes tally in convincing fashion last time, and he could be any kind. The bay has proven rateable in the early going and dons a big late kick, suggesting he will get the extra ground of this race.
Stakes winner and Nashua S. (G2) second Vegas No Show didn’t fire in the Remsen S. (G2) most recently, but has been freshened up and should be a viable option in this one. Fine Laurel debut romper Ore Pass, sharp maiden winner Mudflats, improving Dale Romans trainee Gulfport and stakes runner-up Always in A Tiz, are among the top draws in this field.
The $100,000 Busanda S. will also be on Saturday, while January 1 will play host to the $75,000 Ladies H. and the $75,000 Interborough H.
