Tapizar Headlines G2 Robert Lewis at Santa Anita Saturday

Three-year-old Derby hopefuls will take the first step toward that goal in the G2 $250,000 Robert Lewis Stakes at Santa Anita on Saturday. A solid cast is likely for this 1 1/8 miles test, led by deserving favorite Tapizar from the barn of Steve Asmusen. The G3 Sham Stakes victor has rolled to a pair of fine wins in succession and should be able to run all day. The son of Tapit is among the top prospects in the nation right now.

Awaiting the favorite is a nice cast, including the bob Baffert trained  Wegner, a well-bred son of Dynaformer who made good in his dirt debut last time. The talented Riveting Reason and Sham third Anthony's Cross are also ones to consider.

The co-feature on Saturday is the G2 $150,000 Santa Maria Stakes, while Sunday marks the return of champion Blind Luck in the G2 $150,000 La Canada Stakes.

First post at Santa Anita is set for 3:30pm ET/12:30pm PT
