UNITED NATIONS PITS TURF MARATHONERS

UNITED NATIONS PITS TURF MARATHONERS

A fine cast of runners are slated to contest the weekend feature at Monmouth Park on Saturday, the $500,000 United Nations H. (G1). This turf marathon often plays host to some of the better turf stayers in the U. S. and abroad, and this year looks no different. Dixie S. (G2) winner Hudson Steele tired after leading for most of the Manhattan H. (G1) last time, but he's turned a real corner for trainer Todd Pletcher and looms large in this field. The late bloomer has good tactical speed and should be right in the thick of things in this three-turn event.

Also probable for this event are Grade 1 winner Brilliant Speed, the rising Boisterous, Christophe Clement's Center Divider and the filly Quaintly from the barn of Patrick Biancone, who could be a sleeper in this field.

On the undercard on Saturday is the $200,000 Monmouth Cup (G2) at nine furlongs, while the Holiday headliner is the $100,000 Red Banks S. (G3).
