ZAZU LEADS THE WAY IN HOLLYWOOD OAKS
The $150,000 Hollywood Oaks (G2) is the standout on the Saturday card in California, with Kentucky Oaks (G1) third Zazu the one to beat. Trained by John Sadler, the consistently good daughter of Dynaformer broke her maiden on this Cushion oval and shows a quartet of solid local drills since her solid try at Churchill last out. Joel Rosario will keep the mount on the filly.
Trained Bob Baffert could be represented by a trio of fillies in this one, including recent Railbird (G3) romper May Day Rose, who is a stakes winner on this oval. The daughter of Rockport Harbor is fast and should be in the mix throughout. The other Baffert hopefuls are recent allowance second American Lady grassy allowance vixen Artuya. Nereid has rolled home in a pair of grass races leading up to this and could be a danger on the surface switch.
Hollywood Starlet S. (G1) runner-up Big Tiz, Black-Eyed Susan (G2) fourth Love Theway Youare and Richard Mandella's ultra-talented Rumor, are among the other top contenders here.
The spotlight race on Sunday is the $100,000 Beverly Hills H. (G3).
