Zenyatta The Top Draw During Big Oak Tree Weekend



For the initial time in history, the Oak Tree Association will hold it's meeting at Hollywood Park, with Thursday hosting the opening card. The incomparable Zenyatta will hope to bag her 19th straight win without defeat two days later, in the G1 $250,000 Lady's Secret Stakes. The superlative John Shirreffs pupil is almost too good for words as she has her final prep for the upcoming Breeders' Cup Classic. Mike Smith will once again guide the classy mare.

 A total of six Grade 1 races will take place over this outstanding opening weekend. The G1 $350,000 Goodwood Stakes lured the liked of Grade 1 winner Awesome Gem, two-time G1 Pacific Classic Stakes hero Richard's Kid and exciting talent Twirling Candy, who rolled home a record-breaking winner in the G2 Del Mar Derby last out.

Also on Saturday are the G1 $250,000 Yellow Ribbon Stakes, led by Turning Top and Lilly Fa Pootz, as well as the $G1 250,000 Norfolk Stakes, with standout juvenile J P's Gusto leading the way.

Sunday plays host to the G1 $250,000 Clement L. Hirsch Stakes, with marathon stars Champ Pegasus and Bourbon Bay leading the way, and the G1 $250,000 Oak Leaf Stakes, led by G1 Debutante Stakes romper Tell A Kelly and Bob Baffert's Grade 1-placed Alienation.
