ALABAMA AND SWORD DANCER TOP SARATOGA SATURDAY

A fine field of sophomore fillies will go the demanding 1 ¼ miles on the Saratoga main oval on Saturday in the $600,000 Alabama S. (G1). The stylish Grace Hall has been running big in nearly every race since her debut last campaign and owns a graded win on this oval for trainer Tony Dutrow. The daughter of Empire Maker had a nice pre win in the Delaware Oaks (G2) in her most recent endeavor and could be a slight favorite in this spot.

Recent Coaching Club American Oaks (G1) vixen Questing has been superb since switching to the lawn two races back and could be the one having experience on this oval. Kentucky Oaks (G1) starlet Believe You Can was third in the Mother Goose (G1) last time and would be no surprise with a step forward today. Zo Impressive and In Lingerie, second and third in the Coaching Club, also make a lot of sense in this well-matched field of top fillies.

Also on Saturday is the $600,000 Sword Dancer Invitational (G1), a 1 ½ miles turf test. United Nations H. (G1) victor Turbo Compressor, Man o’ War S. (G1) winner Point of Entry, Monmouth S. (G2) star Data Link and the talented Brilliant Speed, top the list of probables.
