Green Flash Handicap Race History
The Flower Bowl Stakes is a Grade III horse race run each year at Del Mar Racetrack. For its 20th running, the race was elected to become a qualifier for the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint in 2022 as part of the Breeders' Cup "Win and You're In" Challenge Series.
Even in its short history, a horse has already won the race 3 times, with Motorious winning three years in a row (2023-2025). Aboard California Flag for his 2009 victory was jockey Joseph Talamo, who holds the record for most wins at 3 (2009, 2011, 2019). That year California Flag would go on to win the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint in route to being named Co-California Horse of the Year (along with 2009 Breeders Cup Sprint winner Dancing in Silks).
