LADIES TAKE TO THE LAWN IN MARSHUA’S RIVER
The $100,000 Marshua’s River S. (G3) is the standout event at Gulfstream Park on Saturday, a 1 1/16 miles turf affair for fillies and mares. Grade 2 heroine Daveron reached new heights in 2011 and concluded her fine season with a sharp third in the First Lady S. (G1) at Keeneland while favored. The Graham Motion trainee was a sharp winner of the Ballston Spa H. (G2) two prior and has trained forwardly in preparation of her 2012 debut.
Desert Sage was a nice allowance winner leading up to this and would not be a surprise by any means for conditioner Chad Brown. The four-year-old daughter of Selkirk is perfect from three tires at Gulfstream Park, and rarely runs a bad one. Heavenly Landing was a sharp winner in her last pair, both on the lawn, and deserves a chance in this spot for trainer Eddie Kenneally. Group 1 import Here to Win, recent stakes vixen Master Shade, Long Island H. (G3) third Musical Rain and multiple graded victress Romacaca also figure to have a big say in the outcome.
Fillies and mares will go one mile on the main oval in the Sunday headliner, the $60,000 Ocala S
