Saratoga $245,278 Double Pick 6 Carryover Players’ Pool Wrap Up

The TwinSpires.com players pool wagered $50,020 on the pick 6 on Wednesday at Saratoga Race Course, hitting a perfect six-for-six on one ticket worth $60,903 plus five-of-six on another 24 tickets worth $388.50 each for a gross return of $70,227 and $55,002 after automatic federal withholding of 25% applied to the $60,903 payout. Players Pool contributors received $10.99 for each $10 wagered.

The perfect ticket involved leaning on fewer horses in races 5, 9, and 10 than the main ticket while using four additional horses in race 6. It was one of those additional horses who provided the biggest fireworks in the sequence, as Seal Cove won and paid $23.20. That ticket also included 20 consolation payouts while the main ticket cashed four consolations.

The Players Pool employed a multiple ticket strategy for this Pick 6 as a way to lean on its strongest opinions: Mainly 1, 4, 6, 8 in race five and 4, 6 in the featured ninth race. Even for a $50,000 pool, it’s impossible to use every horse the team thinks has a chance of winning, but leaning on our top picks in those two races allowed us to use Seal Cove prominently at better than 10-to-1.
