Saratoga Opens with Class

The fine meeting at Saratoga Race Course will get underway on Friday, July 19. The Saratoga Springs, New York locale is always home to some of the absolute best racing in the U. S. and this season should be no different, as 35 graded races have been carded here up through closing day, September 1.

Be sure to check out the TwinSpires.com Blog for our experts keen insights into the Saratoga meet, including Doug Salvatore's analysis of the 2yo races at Saratoga. In his most recently blog entry, 'Dougie Sal' nailed a cold $59.00 exacta in the first race on Sunday's card.

The $300,000 Coaching Club American Oaks (G1) on Sunday is often a big one, and this year appears to be no different. Grade 2 romper and Kentucky Oaks (G1) runner-up My Miss Sophia showed little in her recent run, the Acorn S. (G1), but the classy miss had been nearly spotless in her first four lifetime runs and her best makes her especially dangerous in this affair. The Pletcher-conditioned daughter of Unbridled’s Song has big early foot and is surely a bounce-back candidate.

Black-Eyed Susan S. (G2) queen Stopchargingmaria, Acorn S. (G1) and Kentucky Oaks (G1) third Unbridled Forever and two-time Grade 2 runner-up House Rules, could be the main dangers to the likely favorite.

Topping the Sunday undercard is the $100,000 Lucky Coin S.
