Pegasus World Cup Odds 2020

Official morning line odds for the Pegasus World Cup Invitational will be announced following the starting post position draw for the Gulfstream Park race. Early odds are released by book makers, such as Wynn Las Vegas and will give an idea of what the public thinks.

The morning line odds maker has granted Omaha Beach even money favortism ahead of the 2020 Pegasus Invitational. With the talents of Mucho Gusto, Higher Power and Tax established as the closest betting interest. An interesting stance by the odds maker as Seeking the Soul, True Timber, War Story and others have either run well in a race during 2019 or competed in previous runnings of the Pegasus World Cup.

As for the Turf, the returning veterans of previous Pegasus contenders are Magic Wand and Next Shares. The morning line odds maker selected the European invaders to outshine the domestic runners. Magic Wand and Without Parole will meet Turf titan Arklow.

Pegasus World Cup Odds Synopsis

The Wynn Las Vegas posted the opening odds for the Pegasus World Cup a month before the world’s richest race scheduled for January 28, 2018 at Gulfstream Park. Big betting action is expected with a $16 million purse. Breeders’ Cup Classic winner Gun Runner makes the final start of his career for trainer Steve Asmussen, and jockey Florent Geroux is in line for a huge payday if he can lead Gun Runner to his 12th career win. A victory is worth more than $9 million, which would double Gun Runners’ career earnings.

Gun Runner is the deserving favorite, but he’s a heavy one with a payoff of less than $4 likely on a $2 win wager. Gun Runner has never raced at Gulfstream Park, but has competed at 10 different tracks with 11 career wins. Gun Runner is training very well following his Breeders’ Cup Classic win and many only seem him failing if he gets caught in too fast a pace on the front end, which the race is expected to have with Giant Expectations pressing the favorite.

Others top contenders that will draw the next wave of betting action all competed in the Breeders’ Cup Classic won by Gun Runner in November, 2017. Collected finished 2nd, West Coast 3rd, War Story 4th and Gunnevera 5th in a dead heat.

Sharp Azteca has won 8-of-16 starts including the Cigar Mile (G1) in December. He also won the Gulfstream Park Handicap (G2) last February and was runner-up in the Breeders’ Cup Mile. Seeking the Soul has finished in the money in six straight races with three wins, mostly in allowance company. He did win the Clark Handicap (G1) in November, but has never raced at Gulfstream in 17 career starts. One filly is entered and it’s the final race of a stellar career for Stellar Wind.

Expect to see even longer odds on some of the long shots on race day.
