Blizzard Doesn't Slow Down the Harness Horses at the Meadowlands

February 11th, 2013

It takes more than a foot of snow to stop a Standardbred. Exit 61W and the roads leading to it were heavily sanded and ready for the fans who braved the cold and snow to watch the series named after the Meadowlands exit. From what I saw, watching at home, it was well worth it.

Perhaps the most exciting race of the evening was race 3, the final division, when Corey Callahan rushed up with Lindwood Player in the last of the stretch to pass the field that he had trailed for the first 7/8ths of the race to win in 1:51.2. Holdingallthecards with Tim Tetrick won the second division, with his fourth win in four races this season at the Big M. In the first race of the evening and the series, Yo Cheyenne Rocky left first and kept that lead all the way to the wire with Brandon Simpson guiding him.

The second rounds of the Winter Survivor and Charles Singer Memorial Series will take place on Thursday, Valentine's Day. The next round of the Exit 16W series will be contested on Saturday night.

The JR Trendsetter had to be canceled this Friday. It will be re-drawn and the first round will be run this Friday, with the final races on Saturday, March 2nd.
