UCF Golden Knights College Football Info
The University of Central Florida Golden Knights are members of The American Conference after being mainstays and champions of Conference USA for many seasons. All told they have five conference titles with four coming under former head coach Goerge O'Leary and one coming under former head coach Scott Frost. They have a 4-5 SU record in bowl games but two of those wins were an upset of then No. 6 Baylor in the 2013 Fiesta Bowl, and of No. 8 Auburn in the 2017 Peach Bowl. They have been nothing short of revolutionary and positively disruptive in the realm of the NCAAF, shedding light on a small program's ability to succeed amongst the monoliths of college football.Several big name players have come through the program as well including Daunte Culpepper, Blake Bortles, Kevin Smith, Brandon Marshall, Josh Sitton and Shaquill Griffin.
After a brilliant 13-0 SU and 8-4-1 ATS campaign last year, that made them darlings amongst the college football betting public, UCF was excluded from the College Football Playoff. Following their win in the 2018 Peach Bowl over Auburn, the Knights proclaimed themselves the National Champion amidst support and controversy. They held a parade at Walt Disney World and distributed championships rings to their players. This was allowed under the gray area of "claimed national championships" within college football. Their incredible campaign called for a review of the College Football Playoff, while admonishing the strength of schedule that certain schools can not control as members of non-power conferences like the SEC and Big 12.
Head coach Scott Frost departed the University of Central Florida to helm Nebraska for the 2018 campaign, leaving former Missouri offensive coordinator, Josh Heupel, in charge. The Knights will hope to continue their upward trend as one of the hot teams in college football, and garner support as a team worthy of consideration. They begin the year as the No. 21 ranked team in the AP Top-25 polls.
