FanEx Sports Fantasy Advice: NFL Week 6
Below you will find some players I’ll be starting this week where I have a chance. They each have plus match-ups and hopefully can take advantage.
Quarterbacks:
Quarterbacks:
Robert Griffin III: The Cowboys have given up 14 passing touchdowns this season, the most in the league and are also allowing 345.6 yards and a 69% completion rate to opposing quarterbacks. Tony Romo and company should be able to score fairly easily against Washington’s poor defense, which should keep RGIII and company throwing the ball to try to keep up.
Andrew Luck: The Colts want to run the ball, but the Chargers offense may force Luck and company to throw it instead. The Colts pass defense has decent numbers, but they have yet to face a tough passing offense. I think the Chargers will be able to move the ball and Philip Rivers will also be a good start this week, but the Chargers pass defense has been extra bad this year. They are giving up 308 yards passing and two touchdowns per game and also the second worst completion percentage of 69.8%.
Running Backs
DeMarco Murray: Washington is allowing 122.5 yards per game and 4.7 yards per carry to running backs this season. Only the Jaguars are worse than that (which means you play Knowshon Moreno too, but be prepared for him to sit out the fourth quarter). The Cowboys will want to get back to the run game a bit after last week’s high volume shoot out against Denver and Washington should allow that to happen.
Arian Foster: The Rams run defense has hit the skids after giving up 175 yards to DeMarco Murray and 153 yards to Frank Gore. Last week they allowed Maurice Jones-Drew 70 yards rushing, and with the way MJD looks that’s equivalent to those 150+ rushing yard games. Foster will get plenty of work in this one as they give Matt Schaub easy looks off play action to get his confidence back.
Marshawn Lynch: Lynch is a must start every week, but don’t be fooled by Tennessee’s middle of the road 86 yards allowed to running backs this season. They are also giving up 4.5 yards per carry, the 27th worst in the league and have faced some less than stellar backs. They’ve seen the likes of Bilal Powell, Isaac Redman and Ryan Mathews to help pad their rushing defensive stats, but Marshawn Lynch won’t be as accommodating this week.
Wide Receiver
Pierre Garcon: This is a no brainer, but in a game where Washington will most likely trail, who else is Robert Griffin III going to throw too? Garcon is by far the most targeted receiver for Washington and he will be even more so in this game.
Mike Williams: The Eagles have given up 93 receptions, 1,207 yards and 11 touchdowns to wide receivers in five games this season. That is the worst in every category. I know it is difficult trusting Mike Glennon, but last week he did find Williams for a touchdown against a tougher Cardinals’ defense and he hadn’t been able to practice with him all week due to injuries. Now with the bye week they have had two weeks to get on the same page. I also like Vincent Jackson in this game, but I do worry about his rib injury a bit.
Antonio Brown: The Steelers are on the skids, but they coming off a bye and are playing at home. The Jets are stout against the run, but have been middle of the road against the pass. On the season they are giving up 13.6 receptions per game to wide receivers and over his last two games Brown has an amazing 21 receptions on 26 targets for 284 yards and two touchdowns. The news that Antonio Cromartie was hurt in practice on Thursday also gives him a boost.
Tight Ends
Rob Gronkowski: In most daily leagues his price has been driven down by his absence, but now that he looks like he’s ready to roll you start him and start him some more. I don’t care if he’s facing the 85 Bears; he is just that caliber of player.
Greg Olsen: The Vikings have given up an average of 1.5 touchdowns per game to tight ends as well as six receptions and 61.3 yards. Olsen leads the Panthers in receptions and yards and is the second most targeted player on the team. Look for a good game from him.
