Mardi Gras

Congratulations are in order for Mom's Hellion from DQ Williams Kennel, winner of Mardi Gras $50K American Derby Stakes  final round on Friday. Smokey Joe was second and Goodlucksterling was third. The winner paid a whopping $26.50 to win and the quiniela, with the favorite second, was $11.

Southland

At Southland, Big Road from the Jeff Lovely Kennel, prevailed over KL's Lucas in a time of 31.69 in the final of the hotly contested Hound Madness Stakes.

Bluffs Run

Today, the stakes action continues at Bluffs Run with the final of the $60K Team Survivor Stakes. In the 13th race, SH Avatar from the 3 box, will go head to head against Boc's Ruckus Boy in the 6 box. Match races are always unpredictable, but SH Avatar certainly looks like he intends to win this series.

Palm Beach Kennel Club

At Palm Beach Kennel Club this afternoon, watch as several first round winners try to repeat in the second round of qualifying for the $20K Bob Balfe Puppy Stakes.

Some probable favorites on today's program include Kay Rock Sweet and Superior Kotton in race 1, coming back from winning in round 1.

Also returning from winning are Turbo Ted, one of my picks today, and Superior Kellogg in race 8.

Superior Dagger, another of my picks today, is in the 10th at PBKC today.

In race 14, Superior Doyle and DrDuckyMallard will compete against each other for a second win in the series.

Thirty-two of today's entries will compete on Wednesday, April 10th, in the third qualifying round of this stakes series.

The semifinals will be run on Sunday afternoon, April 14th.The final of the $20K Bob Balfe Puppy Stakes will take place Saturday afternoon, April 20th.
