The feature race this Saturday at Hollywood Park is the Sharp Cat Stakes for two-year-old fillies and as race three, it is part of the 50-cent pick-5
Race one is an allowance race for fillies and mares around two turns on the main Cushion track with Silver Hustler the 8-5 morning line favorite. Jockey Gary Stevens is back from vacation and ready to continue his winning ways. The knock on the favorite is that she has not won in her last nine starts. Rock and Glory and Changethechanel are the two that could upset the favorite.
Maximinus and Ke in Motion are the two the concentrate on in race two, a maiden claiming race going six and one-half furlongs. The two are dropping out of maiden special weight races and will be tough. Others to consider are Closet E, also dropping in class, and Samurai Assault, a second-time-starter with a bullet five furlong drill on the tab in preparation for this race.
Georgia is the favorite in the Sharp Cat and strictly the one to beat. She broke her maiden at Santa Anita in September by four lengths over Be Proud and Arethusa, both of which are in the Sharp Cat. Be Proud and Georgia are both trained by Bob Baffert and could complete a stable exacta. Arethusa may finally get a decent pace to run into and even though a maiden, may be worth using at 6-1 on the morning line.
The first turf race of the day is a maiden special weight race going one-mile with a field of ten. Trainer Doug O'Neill takes the blinkers off favorite I'll Wrap It Up, but she has run three times with only two thirds on the resume. Pantera Rojo is bred for turf and will appreciate the surface switch. Enterprising goes second out for Tom Proctor, whose runners improve with starts. Miraglo, Crushed It and Life's Journey also fit but must work out trips from posts eight, nine and ten.
The pick 5 finale is a $16,000 claiming race for fillies and mares that have never won two races and it's a tough way to end the sequence. Tizhardtoget is the morning line favorite dropping to this level after breaking her maiden for $40,000 last month. Not exactly a sign of confidence for the $75,000 yearling purchase. Coco de Carchy, Make More Money, Classic Journey, Puff Pastry, Citizen Jane and Clearly Confused are all worth of the upset. This race may have bettors clearly confused.
