Pick 6 Betting Preview: Santa Anita $43,180 Carryover – Oct 18, 2013

October 18th, 2013

There is a pick-6 carryover on Friday, October 18, 2013 at Santa Anita of over $43,000, which begins in race three, a starter allowance for fillies and mares on the turf.

The morning line favorite the for one-mile race is Buckingham Bull who is coming off a second place finish in a $40,000 claiming race at Del Mar in August. She was claimed by Vladimir Cerin from that race and now brings him back where she can’t be claimed. Classic Journey look like the front-runner in the race and could get away with slow fractions, but Buckingham Bull will be right there pressing the pace. Joint Attempt is the late threat on the drop in class.

Race four is a claiming race at seven furlongs on the main track with Money Cannon and One Firm Cat the two to beat. Tahoe Flash is also another to consider on the slight drop in claiming price.

Back on the turf for race five and Passionate Diva will be hard to beat. The Kentucky-bred began her career with three good efforts on all-weather surfaces in England before coming over to the U.S. this summer. She was fifth in her debut in July then was second, beat just a nose, in a similar race in August. She will be pushing the splits and will get the job done unless Shrilanka is ready to roll. The Richard Mandella-trained filly is coming off over a year layoff, but as a two-year-old was good enough to finish second as a maiden in a stakes race. Nicegirlsfnishlast is the third choice for trainer Peter Eurton and jockey Rafael Bejarano.

Dolphin Shorts is going to be tough in race six, a one mile claiming race for non-winners of two lifetime. The three-year-old filly was fourth in her last start against tougher and wins if she transfers her form to dirt. Amulay has no early speed and only one for 11 lifetime, but she looks second best. Psalm Sixteen may try to steal it under the 7-pound apprentice.

The final daily double of the day starts with race seven, a $40,000 claiming race for three-year-old fillies on the turf. This race is tough with the morning line favorite at 5-2 and seven of the nine fillies below 10-1. Use as many as you can afford or single and spread on a pick-4 ticket.

In the finale, Renegade Ride gets the nod on the drop from a maiden special weight into this maiden claimer. If there was any time to show improved form, it is now. Others to consider are Magic Number and Chumash. Chumash is also dropping from a maiden special weight, but that was a state-bred race and she has already started for a tag.

First post at the Great Race Place is 4:05 pm ET with race three off at 5:03.
