Pick 6 Preview: Hollywood Park $130,527 Carryover - June 16, 2013

June 16th, 2013

Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there, maybe the best gift would be hitting the pick 6 at Hollywood Park today, which has a nice carryover of just over $130,000. Let's take a look at some of the contenders in the sequence.

The first leg is race four, a claiming race on the main Cushion track for open sprinters. Big Note steps up in class, but he cuts back in distance and drew a nice outside post. He will be favored to win over Stoneside, Guidopanzini and Afleet Cowboy.

Quality Plan is the morning line choice for race five, a maiden special weight race on the main track. The son of Elusive Quality is making his second career start and looks to be controlling speed. The post, nine, is really the only worry and could get him beat as the other contenders are all drawn in better posts. Those are Aleander, Air Foil and A Red Tie Day.

Another wide open race in the sixth where seven horses are between 3-1 and 8-1 on the morning line. Chapman's Peak gets top billing on the drop in class and his four-for-nine record at Hollywood Park.

Pulpit's Express just blitzed claiming types over the turf last month and now goes first off the claim for the red hot John Sadler. Come and catch him, but this is a step up in class and had five attempts at this level when in the Jeff Mullins barn. Somethings Unusual and Turn On the Pumps will try to run down the favorite late, who should have some company on the front end.

Ron Ellis holds a pair of aces in the Sunday feature, the Desert Stomer, with Teddy's Promise and Include Me Out. Teddy's Promise will be ahead of her stablemate turning for home and should be able to hold that one off. Winding Way made a splash in her first three career starts, but has not run since a fourth place finish in October. If ready to roll, she could be the danger.

Just Irish, Whipstock and Crestatorre are going to be the principles in the last race and all three have claims on the top spot. Suzanne's Candy has to be better than his last and could upset if the favorites run clunkers.

Certainly looks like a wide open pick-6, could we have a double carryover into Thursday? Stay tuned.

First post at Hollywood is 4:00 pm ET with the pick 6 scheduled to go off at 5:37.
