Pick 6 Preview: Santa Anita $191,838 Carryover - March 23, 2013

March 23rd, 2013

The Friday card at Santa Anita turned out a little too tough for bettors creating a two-day carryover of $191,838. The sequence starts in race four; lets take a look.

The fourth race is a starter allowance down the hillside turf course, which drew a field of seven. Baby Blake just missed by a nose in a similar spot last month and will be favored for the fourth straight race. The problem is, Baby Blake loves to finish second. My Samurai Warrior is the pick to upset, but don't sleep on Dancin Upside Down.

Maiden special weight three-year-olds run seven furlongs in race five and Zee Bros may be the lowest price on the day. The Brother Derek colt ran well in his debut, but couldn't match strides with the winner late. He will have to outrun Pure Loyalty, but looks like a rolling single.

Five of the eight look to have a shot in race six, a maiden race down the hill. Give preference to Charm Catcher, Dance Team and Wednesday.

We touched on the Tokyo City Cup in this week's Player's Edge so lets move on to race eight, another race down the hillside turf course.

Mr. Bossy Pants loves the Santa Anita turf and especially this distance. He has won his last three starts down the hill and six of nine overall. It's a race to either single or go deep as the runners behind the favorite all have the same claims on the win. Drift King has finished behind Mr. Bossy Pants twice before and may be best to round out the exacta.

The finale is a six furlong sprint for maiden claimers with Going Back to Cali the 5-2 morning line favorite. The daughter of Albert the Great drops from straight maidens in her first start off the claim for trainer Paul Aguirre. Jawbreaker fits in her second career start as does Amulay. Top Tizzy will try to lead them as far as she can shipping south from Golden Gate. Tiz the Bliz is the sleeper in the field, getting the addition of blinkers for the drop in class. Not exactly an easy way to end the day.

First post at the great race place is 3:30 ET with race four scheduled to break from the gate at 5:01.
