Pick 6 Carryover: Santa Anita 1/12/2013
Another pick-6 carryover at Santa Anita this Saturday, which includes the Grade 2 San Fernando Stakes; let's take a look.
Race four is the first leg, a sprint down the hill for older claiming runners. The full field of 11 has a morning like favorite at 4-1 so use as many as the budget affords. Our top pick is Drift King with Mr. Bossy Pants a close second.
Three-year-old maiden claiming fillies go to post in race five with first-time-starter Avery's Arabesque the 4-1 morning line favorite. Mind Your Biznes fits as does Miss Judged. Another tough race so check double probables for any filly taking a lot of action.
On the turf for race six with favorite Wine List stuck out in post 10 for the mile maiden race. Persuasive Pail breaks from post eight and is bred to handle the surface switch. Kings Giant made a good late run in his debut at 63-1 and can win with a small step forward. The pick-6 continues to look tough. Perhaps a carryover to Sunday?
Race seven is the San Fernando, analysis can be found in this week's Player's Edge so lets move on to race right, another down hill turf sprint.
This time allowance runners get top billing with No Silent the horse to beat. He just won with ease across town and has experience over the Santa Anita turf. In three runs down the hill, No Silent has three seconds. Others with wins in the course are Starspangled Heat and Sweet Swap. Cat Tall also fits if he is ready to roll off the long layoff.
The finale is a claiming race for non-winners of two lifetime and it is another wide open affair. Most will use Nonrefundable, Et Tu Walker, Generations, Time Goes On and Key Reversal. Maybe we should start to handicap Sunday's races.
First post at the Great Race Place on Saturday is 3:30 ET with the pick six set to break from the gates at 5:02.
