Race Preview - Daytona Beach - Race 12 - Saturday August 24th
Nice mix of dogs moving up and dogs who have been holding their own in TA at DBKC. My guess is that all eyes will be on 8-Mike Eruzione, the Rhythmless puppy who runs like his daddy did. With a 20 length win in a schooling race and those closing rushes, he's certainly impressive. I see stakes in his future if he continues his winning ways.
4-Kihei, out of Kiowa Mon Manny, a sire who has been successful at DBKC, seems to be back in form after pulling up and then being schooled as good to go. She's the type of dog that can get out good and still has energy to close, always a threat, especially when she can run from any box.
2-Winner's Storm is another Rhythmless puppy. Very tenacious and gritty with a good closing kick. Good times too. Six wins out of ten races is pretty impressive for a pup that's not even two years old yet.
5-Kiowa TX Twenty is one of those dogs that doesn't look that good until you look at the exotic percentages. Is in the trifecta half the time and stays in TA. Likes to be from the 5 box out, so should be happy with his box today.
1-Atascocita Farr ran a very clean race last time out. He's consistent and manages to stay in TA almost all the time. Definitely has to be considered for exotics in this one.
4-Bubba Lewis fires from the inside, outside and midtrack but I'd like him better if he was in the 1 or 8 box. It looks like there may be a little more traffic than he'd like in this one, but he may kick into gear and outgun the classier dogs that will be vying with him early on.
3-KM Manny Rockin is another Kiowa Mon Manny offspring and is starting to feel his age but is still a contender in all of his races. His times aren't quite up to most in this race though, so unless he suddenly reverts to his younger form, he'll have trouble getting a piece of the purse here.
7-Ram's Black Pearl is at 16-1 in the morning line, probably because her average time is lower than most in this race. That said, she did post two good times in B and C. Post position doesn't help though and the morning line is probably spot on with this one, who would be a better play in a lower grade and a better box.
My picks for this race are 8-2-1-5.
