Race Preview: Inside Information Stakes - Gulfstream Park, March 17, 2013
The Sunday feature this weekend at Gulfstream Park is the 37th running of the Grade 2 Inside Information. Last year the race was won by Musical Romance, who won the 2011 Eclipse Award for Filly and Mare Sprinter. This year's race drew a field of ten, led by morning line favorite Golden Mystery.
The seven-year-old mare Golden Mystery has won her last two starts and is a monster at Gulfstream Park. In her 13 starts over the oval she has five wins, three seconds and two thirds. In her last start she won the Grade 3 Hurricane Bertie by an authoritative three and one-half lengths. Golden Mystery is the one to beat, no doubt about it.
One things this race should have is a lot of pace, which will help the stretch runners. Manatee Stakes winner Spectacular Sky breaks from the rail and will show speed as will Burban, Golden Mystery and Starship Truffles. Burban has not run since May, but she is three-for-four in her brief career and looks to have a lot of talent. Aubby K is also likely to show speed off the layoff and her best race was gate-to-wire in an allowance race last year at Gulfstream Park.
Emma's Encore is the pick to upset from off the pace. She was well bet against Golden Mystery and Fantasy of Flight in the Hurricane Bertie, but never really threatened and finished fifth. The daughter of Congrats makes her third start off the layoff and seven furlongs looks to be her ideal distance. Of course trying to beat Golden Mystery on her favorite track is not an easy task.
First post on Sunday at Gulfstream Park is 1:05 ET with the Inside Information scheduled to break from the gate at 5:35.
