Race Preview: King and Queen Stakes Final - Dubuque Greyhound - Thursday July 4, 2013
Race 12
This is an almost un-handicappable race, if there is such a word. And if there isn't such a word, I may have to invent it just for the occasion.
Here's what we have:
Three Superior Kennel dogs - 1, 2, 3 boxes.
Roc A By MsMolly in the 4 box. She who steals races by a nose but can also close like crazy and win by more than 9 lengths. How can you tell what a dog like this will do with this kind of competition?
Allisonracinteam in the 4 box with 5 wins out of 10 races.
Quirky Chandler in the 6 box, maybe starting to get a handle on what this SA racing thing is all about.
CH Sweet Honey, always dangerous from the 7 box - or anywhere else on the track. She'll be closing in the stretch, that's for sure, because that's what she does. But will she be able to close on the leaders in time to pass them before the finish line this time?
And there's JF Callin Radar, with 2 seconds and 1 win in SA and the win was from the 8 box. Hmm...
And to top it all off, Superior Product, in the 1 box, is going for 13 wins, which would tie the record for wins in a row set by Noble Bahama in 1991. I think he might just do it in this race.
I think Superior Kotton would be happier in an outside box instead of the 2 box, but I can't count her out.
I think that Superior Panama with 10 wins out of 13 races is the main threat to Superior Product's 13th win.
I think if Superior Product gets the lead, the race may be decided before the first turn. But if he doesn't, it might not be until the stretch, maybe just before the finish line, that the fastest greyhound will emerge.
Whatever the outcome, it promises to be a hard fought and exciting race. Safe trips to all the greyhounds in this race. And remember to watch and wager on Bet America where you can get free programs and 3% cash back on Dubuque and many other greyhound, harness and thoroughbred tracks.
