Race Preview: Sensational Star Stakes - Santa Anita, February 24, 2013

February 24th, 2013

There is a pick-6 carryover on Sunday at Santa Anita of $100,001 with the feature race, the Sensational Star. A field of eight will line up for the turf sprint down the hill and contention runs deep.

The morning line favorite for the race is Circa'sgoldengear, a six-year-old gelding who has a win and two seconds over the course. The favorite makes his second start off a layoff after finishing fifth in an allowance race last month.

Cat Talk beat many of these in his last start, rallying from off the pace to get up by a nose over A Toast to You with Starspangled Heat back in third, a length behind the top two. Cat Talk should get a good pace set up with several speed runners in the race.

The pace of the race is Coach Bob, who drew well in post nine and is making his return to So Cal after racing up north the past year. Coach Bob never gets any respect at the windows, but has shown he can pop at a price. He will be playing catch me if you can.

First post on Sunday at the Great Race Place is 3:30 ET with the Sensational Star off at 7:07. The pick 6 starts in race 4 at 5:01.
