Race Preview: Silver Train HBPA Stakes - Penn National, June 1, 2013
We took a look at three of the stake races on the Saturday card that make up the early pick-4 so lets breakdown the first leg, the first running of the Silver Train HBPA Stakes.
The six furlong sprint for Pennsylvania bred or sired fillies and mares drew a field of seven with Ann's Smart Dance the 5-2 morning line favorite. Ann's Smart Dance ships in from Parx via Aqueduct and is coming off a dominant six and one-half length victory in an allowance race. One race prior, in a similar stakes race, she was third, a nose behind the second place filly, Lisa Standard, who is also in the Silver Train.
Lisa Standard drew outside her rival on Saturday and while Ann's Smart Dance is winless in four starts at Penn, Lisa Standard has won two over four over the track. She should be stalking the early pace under regular rider Javier Santiago.
A pair of Tim Kreiser trained runners looks best to upset the shippers. Kreiser is winning at a 32% clip and his runners always seem to hit the board. Dorothy's Aurora has two wins in five starts at Penn and comes in with a solid four furlong drill last week. Her stablemate Power of Summer has also won two of five over the track including a state-bred allowance via disqualification in early May.
Those look like the principles to kick off the pick-4, which does not feature a rock solid single. First post under the Blue Mountains is 6:00 pm ET.
