Race Preview - Southland - Chris Chance Memorial Race 9 - Saturday Eve July 20th
This may be the most contentious and hard fought race in many a card at Southland this year. It has undefeated youngster, Manhatin going up against U Too Pure Silk with 14 wins out of 28 races and a 31.71 in his last race.
Also appearing in the 6 box, where he won by 5 and a half lengths, is Kiowa Producer, the 2013 Southland Derby Champion. And he's at a surprising 8-1 in the morning line!
The morning line favorite at 5-2 is Mike Ross in the 1 box. He's won his last 3 with a 31.61 two races back. He likes the inside and he'll probably outbreak Bob's Radar at 16-1 in the 2 box.
He may not outbreak Clyde of Ruckus in the 3 box, who is at 16-1 in the morning line also. As a matter of fact, with as much early speed as there is in this race, it's hard to say which one of the early speed dogs will get the lead. U Too Pure Silk is almost always first to the turn and will be heading for midtrack, while Kiowa Producer will be out early too and heading for the rail.
Mega Euforia, in the 7 box, at 7-2 in the morning line, wants the rail also, but takes a little more time to get going out of the box.
Barcelona Boss, in the 8 box, at 5-1, is a hard closer, but may not be up to the speed in this race. He'll be closing midtrack, where there won't be much traffic though, except for Manhatin, who will most likely be ahead of him and going away, if he runs like he has in his first 6 races.
I think that U Too Pure Silk will get the lead and the battle for first will be between him, Manhatin and Kiowa Producer. Whether they will be the trifecta is harder to figure. Will they burn each other out? Will two or more of them collide on the break or the first turn, leaving the rail open for Mike Ross to sneak up for a win?
Handicap carefully and watch the odds. This is a race you won't want to miss. Watch and wager on Bet America where programs are always free and wagers on Southland and many other bonus tracks earn you 3% cash back.
Safe trips and good racing luck to all the greyhounds on tonight's program.
