2016 Palm Beach Labor Day Puppy Stakes Tourney Preview

August 17th, 2016

*Last Years Winner PJ St. Pierre*

One of our favorite Tournaments of the season gets rolling today folks, as the $20,000 Labor Day Puppy Stakes is back at Palm Beach.  The famous tourney that kick started the careers of superstars Rob Gronkowski, Atascocita Henri & Pat C Seeker is here again and promises to be another thrilling three weeks of high stakes greyhound action.

*The Gronk*

Wednesday will be the start of this five round tourney that culminates in the final 8 competing on Labor Day for the first big prize of the new season.

Who will the next young star be?  Here's our preview to get it all rolling for the 19th edition of the Labor Day Puppy Stakes at "The Beach."

Favorites

Big Red Dog - Rader Racing

The most impressive youngster Palm Beach has seen in quite some time. "Clifford" was #5 in our rankings to start off the year and already has amassed 11 wins in his short career. You usually need a huge break to win stakes titles at this track and Big Red has the best of them all.  Rader Racing will be looking to win their fourth straight Puppy Stakes title after taking the Triple Crown last season.

Centex Beach  ~ Agganis Kennel

It's been quite some time since Agganis brought home a trophy but this could be the tournament that it happens.  "Beach" is the best combo greyhound in this field, showing a great break but an even more lethal closing kick.  Don't be surprised if trainer Bob Dawson and Centex Beach are on top of the podium come Labor Day.

Whirlin Toodlelu ~ Douglas Kennel

Say this name five times fast.  Toodlelu smoked one of the fastest times of the season last month with a 29.23 secs victory.  Has been competing against the Top A Graders in South Florida and may find a hot streak going against lesser competition in this tourney.

Turbo Wishing  ~ Rader Racing

Rader always has multiple threats for a puppy championship and this year is no different.  Turbo is already a 50% winner in his career and has the blood of a champion with former All-American Smokey Joe as his daddy.

Next Best

JS Runnin Havoc ~ Koppe, Staats & Collins

The eyes of the world are constantly following owner Shannon Henry's talent at Palm Beach and Havoc is a good one.  Another greyhound with a famous daddy with former million dollar career winner SH Avatar as the sire.

CRT Nina ~ Champions Racing Team

Champions actually has some good talent in this.  Nina could be the biggest closer of any of these puppies.

BartsHelloImLate  ~ Douglas Kennel

Solid A grader already and is never late to the party.

JN's I B Slammin ~ Rader Racing

Rader will be looking to win this Tournament for an unprecedented 7th time.

Dangerous Bullet ~ Rader Racing

Pat C Eldon - Koppe, Staats & Collins

Was rolling before taking a month off before the tourney. Can he find his form in time to send the Shake & Bake boys back to the podium?

Longshots

Donald Trump- Brindle Kennel

The greyhound people love to love and love to root against...pretty much like his human namesake.  This tournament would take one interesting turn if "The Donald" puts any kind of run together here.

TC's Carlos Gomez - Douglas Kennel

His human namesake may have got demoted, but this young slugger is just getting rolling, coming in on a two race win steak.

CRT Nice Mike - Champions Racing Team

JS RedNeckNation ~ Koppe, Staats & Collins

Predictions

I've been a huge fan of "Clifford" since this season started.  Huge rush, Rader training and most important....experience at the top level.  Big Red Dog stands tall in this tournament for me.

Here's predictions from our friends in the industry of who they think will be bringing home 20K on Labor Day:

Randy Birch - International Host of BigJackpotBetting.com

"The Big Red Dog will lift his leg and get it in to win. Love Rader pups.  Puppy Stakes always the toughest picks but Clifford is the best I've seen."

Jeff Prince - Palm Beach Track Handicapper

"I believe it will come down to Clifford & Centex Beach. Big Red Dog has the best first turn rush of all the entries, while Beach has the best closing ability. I'll give the nod to Big Red Dog.

Mike Jameson - Palm Beach Track Announcer

"My pick is Pat C Eldon! Nice youngster coming back after a month off."

Steve Lesser "Paige" - Palm Beach Track Announcer

"My pick is Centex Beach. Long shot TC Jose Reyes."

Mike Balsamo - Host of The Backstretch Show 95.9 FM The Palm

"JS RedNeckNation for me."

Enjoy the Tournament race fans!
