Trio of Events highlight Tuesday Card

November 16th, 2015

Although the track offers live racing only two nights each week, Rosecroft Raceway has heightened the quality of its product by keeping the live races at 12 each night and the purses, bolstered by slots at other venues throughout the state, have helped ensure a solid Tuesday program each week.

In fact, this Tuesday's card features a trio of Open events - two for pacers and one for trotters - on the back half of the program and those headed to the Fort Washington oval or to a simulcast outlet to watch and wager on the card would be wise to remain until the end.

Tuesday's eighth race is the $12,500 Open 1 Handicap for older pacers and the event attracted seven solid horses, perhaps five of which could still garner horse of the meet honors from either track management or the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the United States Harness Writers Association.

Hi Sir returns after finishing second and seventh against tougher at Dover Downs. Before heading across the bay bridge he was first and second in two Open 1 tries and had two wins and a second in three Open 2 outings here. He should not mind being assigned the outside post in his return.

Just inside of him is Hot Artist, who arrives riding a four-race win streak including two straight at the Open 2 level. Varsity Hanover was fifth in his lone try at this level, but had two wins and two second-place finishes in the Open 2.

I Wanna Go Fast beat conditioned rivals at Harrah's Philadelphia last out.   Charlie B has won his last two starts against conditioned foes here, while Battleshoe Tom won two straight conditioned events easily before settling for fourth in the Open 2 last out.

Then one race later on the card, a solid field of eight older pacers will go postward in the $10,000 Open 2 Handicap, another event that offers a blend of horses on the improve.

Jet Blue Miracle has the rail and figures to be competitive at this level. Lone Raider and Main A Dieu Too have both done well against conditioned foes, while Concert Artist captured the Open 2 last month.

Then one race later in the $10,000 Open 2 Handicap for trotters, any number of horses could prevail in this affair.

Brilliance Hanover captured this event last week at 26-1. Windsong Ingenius was third last week after winning this class twice. Keystone Cocoa has three wins at the meet and looks competitive at this level, while Accokeek Mercury has won his last two against conditioned rivals.
