AllAboutTheFame Dominates Palm Beach Futurity Final

December 27th, 2016

She's known from the start that she wanted to be famous. After this day, she's well on her way to achieving that goal.

AllAboutTheFame from the Janie Carroll Kennel won the $20,000 Dick Andrews Futurity Final on Monday at Palm Beach with a very convincing 29.46 secs victory.  In what was hailed as one of the best fields this tournament has ever seen in a Final, "Fame" turned the race into her own personal romp.  Bolting out of the 8 box, Fame took the lead early and cruised to the winners circle rather easily.

Twitter Episode from B & B Racing was a surprising second, while race favorite JS Outlaw Legend battled back for third.  Dutch Jackie from the Lester Raines Kennel rounded out the superfecta.

This was Janie Carroll's first Futurity title since arriving at Palm Beach three seasons ago.  Their team has been nothing short of spectacular, with multiple track records being broken by their racers and winning last years Derby title with Ethel Is Here.

Owner Monte Jacobs knew he had something special early with AllAboutTheFame and her littermates at his farm in Claflin, Kansas.

"She did everything right from the minute she started training," Jacobs told us. "She would run through a brick wall, even as a 13 month old pup."

Long time trainer and family owner of the team Crystal Carroll was thrilled with her young stars win as well.

"She had an excellent post," Carroll told us after AllAboutTheFame's victory. "The Swiss Hammer (Trainer Monica Smith) had her ready.  They all broke to the inside and gave her plenty of room to run.  That's all she needed.  Monica did a hell of a job with her!"

After AllAboutTheFame (Erika as her friends know her) rolled to three straight victories to start the tournament, she stumbled in the semifinals finishing 5th.  This had many players and predictions looking elsewhere for a winner in the final.  This was perfect to trainer Monica Smith.

"I liked that nobody was talking about her (leading up the the Final)" Smith stated.  "She ran a strong race and has a great personality."

What's next for the newest superstar at Palm Beach?  Jacobs is already discussing with his team whether Fame will join his squad in Wheeling, West Virginia where he has a booking. With two $50,000 sprint titles just on the horizon with the He's My Man & St Pats Invite, that move may be put on hold with how well Fame has taken to running in sunny paradise.

Jacobs will join me and the crew of The Backstretch Show on 95.9 FM The Palm in South Florida next Friday night at 6:00 P.M. EST to discuss AllAboutTheFame's huge win and his future plans with her.
