April Stories To Watch Out For

*Kb's Like A Fox*

April should bring plenty of stories to follow at the Palm Beach Kennel Club.  With the major Stakes season over with after the St Pats Invite wrapped up last month, the focus will turn to the Puppy Stakes and season championship races.

Here's the main things to follow this month at "The Beach."

*Blu Too Ataree*

Puppy Stakes (April 13th-30th)

I cannot wait for this Tourney to get started.

In all the years I've been covering this track, this is the most talented field that will be assembled. Final rosters will be announced on this Sunday, but you can expect to see superstars Kinda Cruel Red, brothers Blu Too Tarmac & Ataree as well as young gun TC's Cherry to be included.  Cruel Red probably goes into it as the early favorite, but many of these young guns have a shot at glory.

Season Wins Championship

Just like last year, this chase should come down to the final weeks of June before its all decided.

Current leader Ethel Is Here from the Janie Carroll Kennel tops the charts with 25 wins and has put together one of the most spectacular racing seasons of any greyhound ever here.  A $50,000 Derby Championship and a Track record already for the queen of the mid track is so impressive.

Right on Ethel's heels is two time track champion Kb's Like A Fox from Rader Racing with 23 wins.  The all time wins leader is heating up just at the right time, reeling off 5 wins in his last 6 starts.  Very similar to last year, Fox has put a late run on at the end of the season making this chase even more interesting.  Last year, Fox was able to catch Hustle It Up after trailing for most of the campaign. Fox's camp would be thrilled if the best super sprinter of all time pulls it off once again this season.

Worth

With former teammate Craigie Renegade transferring to Southland Park last month, Fox should have open season on the competition going forward.

Kennel Championship

We could be looking at monumental win streak stopping at the end of this year.

Rader Racing has won the team season wins championship for 11 straight years but will have a hard time winning a 12th this season. You will not find another team in sports history that has had this type of success, unless we are talking about the UCLA basketball and Boston Celtic runs in the 60's-70's.

B & B Racing has held the top spot pretty much since the gates fired open this season.With nearly a 200 point lead on Rader, B & B has a tremendous chance at taking home their first Team title ever.  With Stakes winner Superior Tyson pacing the way, there should be no slowdown for the leaders.

Watch out for the Douglas Kennel who sits only a 100 points off the pace.  Needs a monsters last quarter of racing to steal this chase.
