AQHA Champions to be Announced Tonight
Tonight is the big awards ceremony for the Quarter Horse racing industry as the 2016 AQHA Racing Champions

Remington Park Futurity winner, Teller Baja is nominated for AQHA 2-year-old Champion Filly
will be announced. The presentations will take place at Heritage Place in Oklahoma City in a ceremony which will be webcast beginning at 5:00 pm (Central).
The festivities will be streamed live at no charge. Fans can watch it in its entirety on aqha.com on a computer or via other streaming sources.
The awards will include top Quarter Horse champion in Mexico, Canada, 2-year-old, 3-year-old, aged stallion, filly and mare and distance horse. Honors will also be bestowed to champion breeder, owner, trainer and jockey for 2015.

Bobby D. Cox could win another Champion Breeder title this evening
Some of the equine categories appear to be fairly certain. 2016 include top 2-year-old gelding should go to Imperial Eagle, winner of the $3 million All American Futurity (G1) at Ruidoso Downs, but A Revenant, who won the Rainbow Futurity and The Marfa Lights are both deserving of 2-year-old colt honors. Top 2-year-old filly champion could go to high-earner, Coronas First Diva ($495,773), but Teller Baja completed the year with four wins from six starts and earnings of $429,058. Coronas Boy is a solid contender for the Champion Distance division, but the well-traveled Fire on The Fly won five of his eight starts in 2016, and merits strong consideration.

Former AQHA Champion Breeders Bobby D. Cox and Ed Allred both had outstanding showings last year, so that award is tough to predict as it AQHA Champion Owner. Enrique Carrion, Fawna Knight and Charles E. Robinson each campaigned horses who earned over $1 million dollars last year.
