Australia Racing Preview for 2/4/2014

February 5th, 2014

by Grant Davies

Another midweek meet at Caulfield brings great opportunities to wager ahead of the weekend's racing where we see the same routine of a nice little meet Friday night at Moonee Valley before we get wake up Saturday and see the last hit out for most of the Sportingbet Blue Diamond hopefuls in the Preludes.

So let’s see if we can’t get the wallets a little fatter with win bets in preparation for some great racing on Saturday!

CAULFIELD – AUS A

RACE 3 - GLAM BEAUTY SOUTH YARRA PLATE 1600m $35,000(AUS)

It looks like in this race ALPHA BEAT will definitely be the one to get past. The last run at Moonee Valley was in a higher class race than this one and he was hitting the line with a vengeance from the rear of the field. That night as it can be for swoopers, the pattern was definitely not in his favour. LEVENTI definitely shows promise and will be competitive. The 1600m should suit and I always like the addition of blinkers on a horse. Another who is going to be in a better position to claim a win is JADE'S BOY, who will also drop in class and the 1600m will suit, but the barrier could be an obstacle. MYSONHARRY goes in on the fact he chased home hard from the rear of the field in a slowly run race last time out. DE LITTLE ENGINE, THIS CAT ROCKS have place claims as well.

SELECTIONS – 4-Alpha Beat / 1-Jade's Boy / 7-This Cat Rocks

RACE 4 - TILE IMPORTER HANDICAP 1400m $35,000(AUS)

The pace in this particular race is a little unclear, which makes it a tough race. FIRST PRINT cannot really be faulted for the way she is going at the moment. She’ll hopefully get tucked  away and get a nice comfortable trail in this race.ST CHLOE has come back this prep greatly improved and she was good at Kilmore where she was right on the heels of Are There Any, who as we know came out and saluted at this very track her next start. LONHTIME  just isn’t really getting to the line with all she’s got, but the tongue tie goes on here today and she has been very competitive, is that the key to her today? PRINCESS DEAUVILLE returns after surgery, if it’s been successful. She is smart.

SELECTIONS – 9-St Chloe / 2-First Print  / 10-Princess Deauville

RACE 7 - SCHWEPPES HANDICAP 1200m $35,000(AUS)

This race will more than likely be run at a very genuine pace which should ensure an interesting running. ANGELS BEACH put out a very encouraging trial for her return, which was meant to be Moonee Valley last week? But she has an impressive record fresh and I am sure is ready to go right here.  . MRS HADLEE has definitely returned this time in pretty well and is not far off a win, could very well be today. The Blinkers will go back on EPONA PRINCESS, which I think is the right idea and she did not get much luck last time she stepped put on track. VALID CONTRACT seems to have found the right race. She is well weighted with the claim and alo drops back to a weaker grade (Always a good combination). I know she looked like every opportunity was given to her last start, but it was definitely a stronger race. SINHALA  is probably the next best for multiples.

SELECTIONS – 3-Valid Contract / 1-Angels Beach / 9-Epona Princess
