Australia Racing Preview for 3/4/2014
Mid-week racing is back on and it’s time to get the wallet fat for Saturday at Flemington. No night racing at the Valley on Friday because they have switched to the Monday, so let’s see what we can get here today.
SANDOWN HILLSIDE – AUS A
RACE 1 - BUSHNELL OUTDOOR PRODUCTS HANDICAP 1000m $35,000 (AUS)
SENOR JUEZ will be just off them and perhaps 3wide without cover. That's what happened here 1st up when a solid 3rd to Tansy. Tansy has run very well since against a much better field than this. If SENOR JUEZ has gone on since his good return he should go close here. His stable mate DANGER CLOSE is the danger. Wonder which way the stable lean?? Blinkers first time for both. DANGER CLOSE hasn't had much luck since his Seymour win. TRICKY GLEN has good 1st up form. Spotted a handy jump-out. THE FOUR LADS is fit and firing.

RACE 6 - SPORTINGBET BEST TOTE PLUS 5% HANDICAP 1600m $35,000 (AUS)
Good race. 7 last start winners. NORTHERN CATH was most impressive winning her maiden last week. She recorded good time for the day. 1600m should suit. No knock on the way WRITTEN won here last time. See a little more pressure on paper this time as she gets to 1600m. MIRALAGO will appreciate the drop in grade. 1600m is the unknown with her. REZONED has trialled well since her inexplicable run last start. A tongue tie goes on. SCARLET MORETTA ran well here 1st up behind WRITTEN. BERDINI, AKAGERA, CONVERSATION and CARDIAC have claims also.

RACE 8 - CATANACH'S JEWELLERS HANDICAP 1400m $35,000 (AUS)
Another good race to finish and this is tough too. DESERT WIZARD will be tough to beat if he can find his best 1st up. A recent jumpout was good. PRIMITIVE MAN finished 3/4 of a length of Star Rolling last time. Query the gap between runs but no query on his ability to win this. QUICK SNITZEL should be suited 6 weeks fresh back to 1400. He deserves a change of luck. It's been 97 weeks since WALES’s impressive debut win. He must be respected.
